Week 2 - The Hunt

I knew there was a reason mum always refused to let me loose into the wild world.

I've taken this - um - pain in the freaking arse - as an opportunity to step out into the big wide world. No bullshit. What other options do I have short of returning home and owning my defeat?

I'm not out yet. There's still enough on the plastic to last me a couple of weeks.

So, job hunting? What useless morons the people at english agencies are. Seriously.

Ever tried opening an english bank account so that when you do get a job - they can pay you? Ha! Good luck. And as for HSBC being the worlds local bank, it's as useful as tits on a bull. Customer of theirs or not.

Ever tried flat hunting? Ew. Musty. Disgusting and flea infested rooms. Totally gross. Not to mention the junkies as room mates. Seriously I didn't think I would mind junkies, but these are you bottom of the barrel disgusting make me dry gag type. Crusty dodgey fuckers.

But I'm optimistic.

Phil my never failing knight in shining armour has spiffed up my resume and I can't see why no one would hire me for more then the depressing minimum wage which is england.

Should have gotten that university degree. Should have listened to mum. But on the other hand, would definitely not have had so much fun!

Ah parents. Always wanting to sheild us from the devestating effects of ourselves. Well, at least the functional ones.
Pish posh, university degree. I'm at uni, and you knw what I get told constantly by people? "Arts degree? Haha. So, what do you seriously do?".
Uni is good for two things - delaying 'grown up time', and drinking massive amounts of booze at the tav in between lectures.
Don't let flatmate hunting get you down. Someone eventually will be a speed junkie who is forever cleaning the apartment and themselves. :D

Well I did my best. If you get a decent job, do I get a percentage of your pay? Pounds to dollars is pretty good for me right now.

Oh Dani! You know I understand. That's how I ended up working for Bad Santa at the Stinky Pub in my first few months. Don't even talk to me about the bank account debacle - what a shocker. If it wasn't for Fundy letting me use his as an interim measure I never would have been paid. I'm feelin' for ye, sista, I'm feelin' for ye.

Just know that everything beurocratic in the UK takes about 5 times as long with about 10 times as much paperwork (and needs 400 types of ID) than anything in Australia and factor it in. Oh, and while you're waiting, have a pint for me ... ;D XXXXX

Degrees are overrated too.

Don't you have any friends or contacts you can check in with to see if they have a room or know of work? Most jobs are not advertised, find a place you think you'd like to work and start pestering them.

And as I have said before, this is the time of your life to be having fun so live it up girly... just stay clear of the needles and the cockroaches as best you can :)

miz: im not coming home damnit, not till ive tried every which way to succeed...and spent every last penny on pot noodles.

phil: sure...all you need to do is set up an english bank account so that i can deposit it directly to you

squilla: it's a good thing a pint is the size it is! but ill tell you, these days its cheaper to buy a bottle of australian wine ;d

ben: i've got everyone on the look out. went back to the pub and spread the word, bumped into a friend in the mall and got her on the case as well, even the poor bastard who is currently letting my keep my stuff at his place is on the look out.

looks like ill have a place to live by the end of this week, if i get eight rejection letters today, then we know the job will be a tough one to crack and it might be back to bars for me. gag.
